About Me: Coton3

Pietro Catanese – the Artist formerly known as Coton3 – is an Italian – naturalised Swiss artist who lives and works in Switzerland since 2013. After attending the Higher School, he got her master degree cum laude in history of Modern and Contemporary art at the Genoa University in Genoa.

He is a 360° artist, he has a full artistic vision from painting, politics, music, writing, cuisine up until technology. He has a full cohesive concept of the art. His art it’s about bringing art to life, living and breathing it everyday expressing himself until his creativeness fully involves everything that surrounds him.

Music accompanied him and raised him in the various corners of his home region like the Louisiana Jazz Club. He studied with many of the most important interpreters of the Italian Jazz scene. Founder of Jazz Gospel Alchemy Choir and the Italian Feder Gospel Choirs, he introduced the concept of “musical contamination” by stimulating member choirs to share many projects from all over Italy perform in theatres and churches in favour of voluntary associations, thus carrying on his idea of singing, which rises to high levels when he puts himself at the service of the weakest.

In Switzerland he decided to deepen his skills of visual art in a more practical way and intensively work to represent his art. Since 2013 his work has been exhibited in several galleries. The main theme of his work is the tentative to read the essence of the time and the deep nature of the things. It is a research to visualise the feeling, intuition and measure of the world with paint and canvas – that become a pieces of wall – as a medium.
